Catholic Funeral Planning
Funeral planning in a time of grief can be difficult. We understand and we are here for you. The first step in planning a Catholic Funeral Mass is calling the office to set up a meeting with the pastor. You can do so by calling 715-479-8704.
During the initial meeting with the pastor, these are some questions we will ask:
- Will a funeral home be assisting with the funeral?
- Will there be a full body or an urn present?
- Time, location, and date of the Funeral Mass. All parishes in our cluster offer space for a funeral Mass.
- *Will there be a luncheon after the Mass at the parish, and if so, do you wish to work with the funeral luncheon committee?
- *Do you wish to use the church musicians and cantors for the Mass or do you wish to provide your own?
- Suggestions for readings and hymns:
- For a full Mass, the 1st reading will be selected from the Old Testament
- the 2nd reading is selected from the New Testament
- A responsorial psalm needs to be selected
- 4 hymns in total should be selected and an optional prelude:
- There are many beautiful hymns to choose from. If you are unaware of which hymns you would like, we can help you select some.
- Will there be a burial after the Mass? If so, where?
- Are their friends/family members who would like to read the readings at the Mass?
- Are there friends/family members who would like to bring up the gifts during Mass?
6. Please bring a photo with you if you would like one included in the Mass booklet.
The Mass booklet is put together free of charge and we will print them and have them available at the Funeral Mass.
