First Eucharist is such an exciting time for our youth! I know when I celebrated my first communion I was so nervous and excited that the following week I didn't remember what I was suppose to do! With that in mind, it has been suggested that we change the time of year that first Eucharist Mass is celebrated.
Generally, it is celebrated at the end of the faith formation year leading into summer. The suggestion is to move it to right before Lent. This would allow the students to be able to attend all the Masses in full participation of the Eucharist for the Holy Season! How better to celebrate the death and ressurection of our Lord Jesus Christ than by participating in the Eucharist!?!
